Bloated stomach?

I been bloated over a week! It seems as though everytime I drink, my belly looks as if im pregnant. I always get it and I don't know why. I'm due in a few days so I don't know if it's a cause of getting my period or just getting fat even though at the doctors the other week, I weighed 90 lbs? I also never really do the number two and before I tried to open my dorm window and it hurt like heck just trying to open it. It hurt my lower back and my chest area.
Answer:
You probably have IBS (irriatble bowl syndrome) with constapation. You need to go to your doctor to get a better diagnosis. I also have very horrible bloating frequently and I used to take Zelnorm to help. The Federal gov't pull it off the market about a month ago due to riks (such as heart attacks). In the mean time, I have essentially 'lived' with the pain; however, this is what has helped a bit for me: Excercise (especially running), Drinking tons of water (it will make you FEEL more bloated at first, but after a few days, you will feel better), Take fiber laxatives (Pills are easier to deal with then the powder), and if you really, really can't go, take a glycerin suppository (won't get rid of the bloat, but it will make you go). Hope that helped

Bleeding...help?!!!?

ok i have a BIG problem! i stopped getting my period regularly. and now it only comes like once every 6 months.if that. bigger than that is that when it does come it stays on for up to 2 i/2 wks!!! And i bleed very heavily. this has been happening for about 3 yrs and i'm starting to get really scared...so here's the question: is there a such thing as a backed up period? i mean is it possible that i bleed so heavily at one time because i dont get a regular period? and plus if there is such a thing, is there any suggestion to stop this from happening? i admit that i dont eat regularly and i hear that that can have an effect on having a regular period.and i do plan to go to the doctor but i wanna have at least an idea of what is wrong first ...so someone...anyone...pls help?!!!
Answer:
you may have endometriosis, fibroids or a condition called PCOS. how old are you? you having weight gain, hair growth, any other syptoms?

you need to get to a gynocologist asap. missed periods like this are very serious and can cause infertility.
You're gonna need to go to the doctor, sweetie. While irregular periods are common, going several months without one certainly isn't. You might have a condition called endometriosis. There are lots of symptoms associated with it, but not everyone experiences the same ones, or in the same combination. What you're describing is one of the classic symptoms. I'll include a link so you can do your own research, but you're going to have to get it checked out.

Sandy
There are many things that could be what is causing your issues. I had a friend with Lupus that would only get a period every once in awhile but then bleed heavily and for a long time. It could be related to your eating habits (women should have approximately 20% body fat in order to have regular periods -- lack of periods due to low body fat can lead to infertility). It could be some other hormone imbalance. Etc.

Only a doctor will be able to ask all of the right questions and do all of the right tests to find out what is going on. Make an appointment ASAP.
You really have a problem. You are not bleeding so much because you are losing the blood you didn't lose last month. You are bleeding so much because something is wrong. And it's not normal to miss so many periods. Only a doctor can tell you what is your problem.
I heard something similar from a patient of mine who was taking some pills to lose weight. If you do that stop immediately the pills and go to a doctor right away.
if you are a teenager, your problem can be just temporary but you need treatment to get it fix. The biggest problem about that is the fact is affecting your capacity of having kids latter. And that's very serious.
So see a doctor this week, tomorrow won't be too soon.
Good luck.
Cristiana
I doubt that you'll get a good answer on this site, so don't hold your breath.

Go see a doctor ASAP.
No, there isn't anything where the period can get backed up to cause irregularity. What was thought of as a back up of menstrual flow was a theory that was thought to have been the cause of endometriosis. It was a theory that dated back to the 1920s but that theory ended up getting proved wrong.

It sounds like you might have a hormone imbalance going on. One of the symptoms of thyroid problems for women can be irregular bleeding, and this irregular bleeding is what takes many of them to their gynecologists who then end up finding the problem.

This bleeding that you are having that continues for almost 3 weeks is called breakthrough bleeding and can act a lot like a menstrual period.

Ask your dr about the possibility of thyroid problems as a possible cause for this bleeding. I learned about the connection between thyroid issues and irregular bleeding from my gyn on Thurs.
Skipping 6months without a period is definitely not normal. Please go to your doctor and tell them. You may need to take birth control to regulate your period. Good luck and please please please, get it checked out!

Bleeding through out the month?

im 46 last 6 months i have a period then its on/off bleeding all the time im fed up feel run down,i went to my gp today she said i must have a scan then tests done??
Answer:
Could be a hormone imbalance which can be treated with medicine
Or perhaps it's the beginning stage for menopause?
But sounds more like a hormone imbalance
tiredness=anemia
bleeding usually can be controlled with endometrial ablation or surgery
I'm not your age but it could be something serious like cervical cancer. Don't get too worried it's just a suggestion and I'm not a doctor but unusual bleeding is never a good sign. Hope I could help and I wish you luck.

Bleeding black blood after 15 days of the ministration, anyone can help ??

Answer:
Go to the doctor..
See your GYN.

Black blood is old, not fresh bleeding, but that doesn't mean it's not still bleeding--just that it's taking a while to get out.

Bleeding all the time?

im 46,years young, the last 6 months im bleeding on and off all through the month it starts for about 10 days then stops for 3/4 days then starts again,im so fed up with it now i went to the doctor a few months ago and she said it wasnt the menopause! im tired all the time?
Answer:
Well if it's not the menopause, did she say what she thought the problem was? Make an appt. with a GYN, a new one this time, and get yourself check out...right away.
go to a different doctor they should explore to find out what is wrong
May be tiredness, or even more serious - iron deficiency. Keep your iron levels up and get tested for it.
I can't think of anything else.. I'm only 17 lol. My mum is your age, and she says she used to have it badly like you when she was younger, she said it was a inherited thing from your parents. She said she suffered from anemia and so did her mum. Thats why she had it badly.

I hope I helped, and hope you feel better soon ^_^
It's hard to believe that's all the doctor said. If it's not the menopause; it has to be something. Get another opinion.
It could be fibroids. I have them. They can be painful and will make you bleed a lot. When you bleed a lot, you lose iron. So you can be anemic, which is causing your tiredness. Get some OTC iron for now and go back to your doctor. If he/she doesn't know what to do, get a referral to a gynecologist.

There are many options. Fibroids are quite common. It may be as simple as taking iron to slow the flow. Or you may need more aggressive treatment. It's a serious problem which needs to be addressed, but it can be helped. For me it was 2 shots that lasted 3 months each which stopped the flow temporarily and allowed my body to catch up in iron. Once the blood catches up with iron, the flow becomes much lighter. I know it sounds strange, but it works.

Take iron! I used Slow Fe-it didn't upset my stomach as much. It didn't help me catch up, but it might help you. There is also prescription strength iron that may help.
i would head to an ob. did u go to a regular pcp? obgyn is the person to consult about this. please dont waste more time waiting. this could be a miriad of issues.
I had the same problem that your are having. In 2005 I had a total abdominal hysterectomy. Before the surgery I bled constantly and couldn't understand till i went to my doctor and she found a fibroid tumor. I had the tumor removed, had the hysterectomy and feel fine now but in total menopause, which is not fun but can cope with it better than I could all the bleeding i had from my periods.

Bleeding 2 days after peiod, on pill, no pain, (see details) explain?

I perhaps also ought to say I obviously just started a new strip of the pills, on day 2 of pills. Last month, I started the pack a day early. I'm sticking to the day earlier routine. Could it just be a hormone imbalance which has caused bleeding, (not enough bleeding to use any protection, I just see it when I wipe).
Answer:
i dont know, but when i was on the pill, my period got extended form an average of 5 days to 7 days, as per the no. of the lil red pills...

could that be perhaps be the reason you are bleeding two more days?

Bleeding .. is it hemorrhoids?

I've noticed that after a bowel movement, when I wipe, there's a little blood there. It's bright red. I've had this a few times in the past, and I dismissed it as hemorrhoids or just irritation from constipation, diarrhea, etc. Should I be concerned? There's no pain at all. My digestion and "habits" are all the same. I'm only 29 years old. Any thoughts?
Answer:
yup, bright red blood is hemmorhoids. You might want to consider some hydrocortizone suppositories for a day or two, or at least take some docusate gel caps to soften the stool so those hemmorhoids can calm down.
Probably just hemorrhoids but go to your doc to make sure thats all it is.
I love it
blood in stool can be a precurser to rectal cancers. get a colonoscopy done by your doctor to check out the problem.
Yes you should be concerned. Any rectal bleeding needs to be checked out at the docs office right away. You mention constipation and diarrhea so if you have both of these you should have seen the doc a long time ago to get this under control. See a doc now and get this checked out. Since you had time to post this question here midday then you have time to call your docs office and make the appointment to see him right away too. Call now when you read this.
Sounds like roids. Concerned, no.

Blood in your stools is an indication of internal bleeding. Bright red blood that you get off the tissue when you wipe is from external bleeding, i.e. roids.
You shoud get an examination by a doctor just to be o the safe side. It sounds like haemorrhoids to me but I can't see the real picture. Don't take a chance.
No need to worry. It's most likely hemorrhoids and sometimes stool can be irritating to the rectal area and make ya bleed a little all is good. If you are extremely concerned call your doctor.
Your constipation is causing you problem. I had the same thing except that I was leaking lots of blood. I was worried so I went to the doctor just to see if I don't have any disease. And I ended finding out that it was all from constipation and he told me to use metemusil for helping you use the toilet
You could have a bleeding ulcer in your stomach or intestines, I would def. see a dr. Unattending to it could lead to major problems.
I would say it isn't cause for alarm at the moment. I believe it's somewhat normal --esp if you've been having difficulty going to the br if you know what I mean. Definitely keep an eye on it though. If the amount of blood increases or if it continues consistently over a couple of days, get it checked out.

p.s. you would know if it were hemorrhoids, they are extremely painful.
Bright red, no worries, dark red, see your doctor. Hemorrhoids are the primary cause of bright red. Dark red indicates something internal and more serious.
Scant bright red bleeding on wiping is most likely to be "hemorrhoids." Hemorrhoids refer to large veins that actually circle the anus that are prone to becoming varicose and swollen (because of excessive squeezing from constipation or from blood clots in the veins) or injury (from excessive abrasion from wiping).

Neither one of these conditions is particularly harmful, but they can be exquisitely painful. There are actually two sets of hemorrhoidal veins, external and internal. The external ones are covered in nerves and very painful if they become injured or swollen. The internal ones do not have nerves and are almost completely painless when they bleed.

The worst outcome of hemorrhoids is that the vein becomes so swollen, it acts like a little polyp and actually gets stretched out from the constant abuse. This can make it very easy to bleed, as well as being a little weird having a polyp sticking out your anus. Needless to say, most people have surgery for this or to prevent this.

For all hemorrhoids, having a diet with enough fiber and less low-residue foods (meats) will prevent and in many cases reverse problems from hemorrhoids. Gentle wiping or using dampened wipes may help as well.

As always, discuss these and any questions with your doctor.
It doesn't sound like you have hemorrhoids. You normally can see and feel hemorrhoids since there usually external and occasionally internal and are very painful. It looks like you have blood in your stool and should make an appointment to see a doctor asap. You will probably need colonoscopy to check for the possibility of polyps or any other abnormalities. A colonoscopy is a look into the rectum and colon through a long narrow tube with a light and a tiny lens at the end.
wtf.
you effing freak.
Bleeding during bowel movement is very common sign of hemorrhoids.

However, I wouldn't say to just wait that they'll disappear, because this is not what hemorrhoids generally are doing. Their tendency is to develop further and further, and become a real pain in the a..

Unless you feel them at the entrance of your rectum, you most probably have internal hemorrhoids, they are placed above the dentate line (deeper inside the a..s) and are painless, unless they protrude (prolapse).

I had ulcerative colitis (cured it with 100% natural honey of chestnut), and as consequence internal hemorrhoids.

Got rid of hemorrhoids with Rue Care Oil, after many other products have failed.

Bladder?

I woke up last night hand and had to go to the bathroom really badly, but when i went barely anything came out? why is this so?Then I went a little while later and same thing happend? wuts wrong? could i possibly get a bladder infection?
Answer:
Sounds like a bladder infection to me. You should see a Dr. If you let it go too long it can advance into a kidney infection which is very serious. Hope you feel better soon.
It sounds like you have a UTI urinary track infection. You need to go see your OBGYN and get put on some antibiotics. http://www.thomasmedical.com
You might be right. It does sound like a bladder infection. I would go to a doctor to get checked out.

Bladder Problem, can any one help?

I have a good Friend with a bad bladder problem, and there is nothing the Dockters can do untill she is fully grown. How can she make her life a bit easier while still at school?
Answer:
kids can be cruel. but there is an end to highschool and teasing does toughen up kids as sick as that may be - made me VERY thick skinned

but inform the teachers about the problem and they will hide it well- gym class getting chnaged in loos ..not having to do swimming sports.. etc etc just cutting them some slack

there was a kid in my formgroup who wore dipaers and I never found out until I had left 2 years later that he had this problem - with my mother workign at the school , she always knew buy never told me
The only thing i know to do about that is have her parents write a note or go talk to the school about it, and make sure she is allowed to go to the bathroom when she needs to.
She needs to see a better doctor.
my friend has a bladder problem where she has to wear diapers even at school. i feel bad for her. her kidneys are smaller then normal.

Bladder leakage problem when running.?

I have been running for some time however in the last few years no matter how often I go to the restroom I still have leakage when I run.I know there are many females my age who run .Is ther anyone out there who have a simaliar problem and what5 can I do other than give up running.
Answer:
Check with your doctor, however if you are over 45, most women DO start to have "leakage" . you don't need to stop running, however, and you don't need to be fussing with a full protective UNDERGARMET.. Several companies make bladder control PADS that are similar to sanitary napkins but bigger... they take about a DAY to get used to wearing but after that, they are comfortable and give you all the protection you will need from your small leakage problem. They come is several different sizes depending on the leakage amount so experiment with the smallest size first and go to the thicker ones IF you need to. Oh and you can do every kind of exercise comfortably in these PADS, except of course water sports...
Ask your doctor, there are sometimes things they can give you to help with the incontinence. Also, you may want to look into some type of undergarment protection just to be on the safe side. Good luck, and keep on running!!

Bladder infections?

What is the best way to prevent bladder infections and treat *mild* ones (besides just drinking a whole lot of water)? I get them very regularly, usually can just drink water to make them go away, but need antibiotics about 3 times/year and would love to prevent them if I could. I've tried cranberry juice and lemon juice with no effect.
Answer:
What helped me more than anything else in the actual prevention of bladder infections was when I started taking all natural Optilfora. It's a two-product system that includes Probiotic (Bifidus %26 Acidophilus...microflora) + Prebiotic (FOS...food source for microflora). Due to it's patented encapsulation process, it guarantees delivery of 500 million live bacteria to the intestines. An imbalance of "good" and "bad" bacteria in our bodies can cause so many problems.

Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me with questions.
you could try the cranberry capsules just take very day like you would a viatamin and it will be in your system all the time as opposed to drinking the juice.
they also sell cranberry herbal supplements (capsules) that you can take

also stay dry %26 clean , go to the bathroom
after being intimate

sounds like your doing everything else that can be done
Try drinking green tea hot or cold...contains wonderful antioxidents...look it up on the internet...many benefits...but I use it also for urinary tract and bladder infection prevention...I have a kidney malformation and beleive me it works...
Keep the vaginal area clean, including wiping from the front to back after a bowel movement to prevent contamination of the urinary tract.

Use tampons and change every three to four hours, instead of sanitary pads. (The pads can act as a culture medium for fecal bacteria, which may then be rubbed against the urinary outlet and invade the bladder.)

Wear cotton undergarments, which allow air circulation and discourage the warm, moist environment needed for bacteria growth. Nylon pantyhose should have a cotton crotch.

Avoid wearing tight clothes in the genital area, such as control-top pantyhose and skin-tight jeans, as well as extended wearing of a wet bathing suit.

Urinate before and after intercourse and make sure that the partner's hands and penis are clean.

Drink plenty of fluids (cranberry juice has been shown to help prevent urinary tract infections.)

Urinate "when you see a bathroom" rather than when the urge to urinate becomes strong.

Although there is no scientific evidence linking diet to UTIs, some people have found that alcohol, tomatoes, spices, chocolate, caffeinated and citrus beverages, and high-acid foods might contribute to bladder irritation and inflammation.

Bladder Infection?

Ok.. this is kinda embarassing but i'm in aggony! :(

Ive Just got a bladder Infection (is cos ive not been drinking way enough water to flush out my system and yes i know i should!)

Just im in really bad pain, its 2.30 in the morning and i need something that will at least ease the pain :'(

Please help and no nasty comments!
Answer:
Go and see your doctor. That's what they're for ! ! !
Cranberry juice is very good for bladder infections... sorry it won't help with the pain tonight though.
I am so sorry for you I have had bladder infections and they are miserable. You do need to drink a lot of water and take something for the pain until you can see your Dr.
There is an over the counter tablet you can take. It's called
Azo gantrinal, or something to that effect, the pharmacist will
know what it is. It will turn the urine either orange of blue, but it
does stop the pain. I have taken it before and it does help.
I wish you well.
See a doc and he can prescribe antibiotics. It can spread if ignored. U can also get one for other reasons. Ask gyno or doctor. Another option I've seen is Azo at the drugstore for bladder infections. I haven't tried it though. Also drink cranberry juice. My sis sits on the toilet all night w/a big bottle until she can see the doc in a few days. It stops the pain but still see a doc just to be sure.Good luck!
penacillin is what clears up them infections, but you should see a doctor, or get one of those magical guys like that big black guy in green mile. lol
You need to go to the doctor, I had a bladder infection, and I didn't get it taken care of and it turned into a really bad infection in my kidney (not sure if they were connected but I think they were, only one set of anti-biotics for both so...). Anyway, for now take some extra strength tylonol (however its spelled), and drink cranberry juice. The doctor will give you antibiotics for it though so you need to get down there asap. All they'll need to do is a simple pee test to confirm it.
Good luck!!
Toni Lynne :)
try cranberry juice but if haven't got any of that go to the hospital because you properly wont be able to get a doctors appointment for a few days anyway!
drink lotsa water.. cranberry as the others have said is brill, dilute in water if the taste is not to your liking.

if there is blood in the wee... call NHS direct 08454647...OR YOUR DOCTOR, YOU MAY NEED ANTIBIOTICS..
UTIs are one of the few conditions that I would advocate automatic antibiotic treatment sooner rather than later. Out of hours GP services are happy to prescribe for this, even at night.

A high fluid intake is good, but a recent study suggests that cranberry juice is another medical myth and is no better than water in acute infection.

Left untreated, cystitis, bladder infection, will sometimes spread up the ureters to the kidneys and cause pyelitis or pyelonephritis. This can produce permanent kidney scarring and ultimately affect kidney function.
go and see the doctor and tell him but if you have got any bicarb in your cupboard put some in milk about a teaspoon in just a Small amount of milk and drink it as it will kill all the acid that is lying around the bladder and drink plenty just keep dring water or barley water if you have any or cranberry juice
Water infections are horrid and can make you feel lousy.

Drink plenty of water to flush your kidneys out but you need to take a urine sample to your practice nurse who can test it and then send it off to the laboratory if required.

The doctor should prescribe you some antibiotics to sort it out. These may need to be changed when the test result comes back but sounds to me like you do have an infection.

Don't worry...it will be easily sorted. Good luck.

Bladder infection?

Ok something weird is going on, I went to the bathroom this morning and everything was fine. Then right after words my bladder started hurting bad, like a uti. Except my pee looked fine, it didnt hurt to pee, and there was no smell? could it still be a bladder infection. Becuase its hurting and im not sure if its just a bladder infection because the only symptom im having is it just hurts lol. Not like any bladder infection ive ever had.
Answer:
I had the same feeling my last bladder infection and I didn't go to the doctor because I wasn't sure. The bad feeling just got worse so sure enough, I went to the doctor and it was a UTI. Don't wait, when in doubt you should always go to the doctor. It won't just go away on its own. If you suffer with a bladder infection long enough it can move into your kidneys and they say it can cause irreversible damage to them.
Yes it can be. Bladder spasms are probably what you are feeling. Your urine may appear normal, there may not be an odor and there may not be any burning - these things do not need to be present for bacteria to show in a urinalysis. See you doctor. It maybe the early stages of an UTI. I have Chronic Cystitis which is now usually referred to as Interstitial Cystitis and bladder spasm are uncomfortable.

Bladder infection?

Ok so after I urinate once in a while i have this burning sensation in my bladder. It does NOT burn when i pee nor anywhere else. I have no other symptoms, my urine is regular, i urinate at regular times etc. But every so often for quite a few weeks this has happened ..I am really confused because i do not feel this sensation all the time. I sometimes have a habit of holding it in for a while, but if that has messed up my bladder i would think that i would feel this sensation all the time. Any ideas .Side note I am still a virgin so pls dont say its an STD, Thanx

Bladder infection..?

i think i may have a bladder infection..
It sort of ' aches ' almost like cramps and my pee is slighty hot. but nothing else..

What do i do now...? Cranberry juice? Drink alot? See a doctor?
Answer:
Go and see your doctor. That's what they're for ! ! !
All of what you said is correct, which you need to do.
you must go and see your doctor ASAP. it is very dangerous for a woman to leave an untreated bladder infection. my sister had one and left it for ages, and eventually the infection started spreading inside her body and she had to stay in hospital for a week. it can also affect fertility if left as it can spread to other areas.

so please go see your doctor today, cranbury juice is good for keeping infections away but if you actually have one then it MUST be treated with antibiotics/ medicine.
Yeh, drink plenty of water, pee more often and see GP. Ask for a red top specimen bottle %26 get it sent to the lab. Antibiotics may be required to clear it up.

Bladder infection without pain peeing?

I've had this before, went to doc, and he sais bladder infection, cuz there was a small amount of blood in my pee sample. well...it doesn't hurt to pee at all...and i might be peeing more, but i'm also drinking lots of water to flush myself out, so thats hard to tell...the biggeest problem is my stomach , lower abdomen hurts...hurts to walk, sit, poopppp especially, but than feels a littel better durnig the poo, and than hurts again. its not bad now...but in the past, it gets to where i can hardly walk around..any ideas?
Answer:
If you have blood in your urine this - usually - means something is wrong. Some women have a little blood in their urine after having UTI for years but if you do not have any bacteria growing in the urine I guess he did not give you any antibiotics to use? Or did he? If he did, take it and see if the pain in your lower abdomen stops hurting. Usually with UTI (bladder infection) there is a slight pain in the lower abdomen, but not such bad pains like you describe. Therefore, if the antibiotics do not stop the pain you might go see a GP not a gynecologist maybe its something different .

Answer:
Certainly sounds like a bladder infection/UTI. Pain while urinating is not necessary for a bladder infection/UTI, it is just a common symptom. You just need to take all the antibiotic that your doctor gave you. If your abdomen isn't feeling completely better in about 4 days, you need to call him to get a different antibiotic. Antibiotics these days are very tricky. So many are ineffective most of the time due to bacterial resistance. If you are still having trouble with bladder pain, I recommend that you ask your doctor about the antibiotic Cipro, and then get prescription strength Azo.
google Urinary Tract Infection. Cranberry extract pills solve the problem.
it could be your bladder and it could also be endometriosis attached to your bladder or colon area. I would describe it to your doctor exactly as you described here. Of course it could be something entirely different. I am not a doctor.
Keep the MD apprised of what's going on.

j
Telling your age would probably have helped. I would go see a doctor though.
You need to see a doc. WIthout examining you there is no way anyone can have a clue what is going on.
I always have a trace of blood in my urine. I used to get bladder infections all of the time and I hardly ever felt pain. My urologist did a cystoscope and said I have interstitial cystitis. He put me on Elmiron and I've been fine since.

call your doctor i hope its nothing serious
please go to the doctor. My kids godmother had the same thing and it began to spread to her nipple when it did she thought her nipple was fallin off but she went to the doctor and it healed it looked so much better, yea she was so scared she showed us and it started off just like you said and it got worse. They are small cysts. They are normal. Dont sqeeze. It can cause cancer. Cut back on your caffine intake.
Ingrown hairs and blackheads! just pull out the hair and it will heal up without you having to squeeze anything and leave scars. I get them from time to time, but they are mostly ingrown hairs.

Black licorice and bleu cheese?

I never did like black licorice, I liked bleu cheese as a child - not Roquefort - then grew to dislike it. Now, POOF! Love bleu and Love black licorice! So, why? What's changed or what am I lacking? I have heard something about, "If a woman likes the flavor of black licorice then..." I can't recall how it ends. Can you, or do you have any ideas on why this change has occurred? I am thirty-something, an ova-lacto vegetarian for a year and a half, and do not drink any alcohol or do drugs. I gave up smoking at the beginning of the year.

Black blood on my period period?

well i had it for about 4 to 3 days and the 1st days it was dark black!and then second day redish but today again blaskish
Answer:
Dark blood is usually an indication of 2 things.

The 1st is old blood.
Old blood goes dark to black in colour.

The 2nd is a extremely high iron blood count.
So your blood is so good and healthy that it is high in the correct nurients to run healthily and is carrying excessive oxygen around turning it dark red.

But it is still happening? I guess.
Your question states that you have had your period for 3 or 4 days already. The 1 and 2nd day is was black?
Correct?

Is it now normal bright red?

If it is, don't panic. It is deffently old blood left over from your last period. It obviuosly didn't expell it all effectively.
If this keeps on happening though you may very well need a D and C. Dialation and currette. Not for abortion purposes, but to clean out the old blood and left over products.
That will fix it for quiet some time.

If it is still black, assuming it's been 3 or 4 days, get down to you Doctor or Gyno today.
you should ask your doctor
go see your Dr=that's not the way it is to be
I think everything is going to be okay but on your next doc. appt. I would mention. Or maybe you could make an appointment. I would not worry to much about it though.
I would get checked out just in case. Is this the first time you noticed this? Was your period in contact with air..because air makes period blood darker. Like fruit you leave out turns brown. Or it could be the lining of the uterus that appears to be darker than regular blood
old blood is darker, and sometimes black. i've had that before too and asked my doctor. he said it was just old blood and it's normal the first few days of your period.

Bizarre pain!! Any ideas?

I have been having pain in my right side for about 3 wks. I think it is on my ovaries. I went to the ER and they told me that maybe it was because I was ovulating. Then I went to student health services at my college. The nurse said that my ovaries felt tender. My urine sample came back with microscopic blood in it. She suggested that I go to another doctor to check my kidneys. Then I waited two more weeks to se if the pain would go away. When it didn鈥檛 I went back to the emergency room. The ER did a CT scan, which showed a stone on the left side but my pain is on the right. It was small so they said don鈥檛 worry and gave me no medicine! If feels like something is inflamed. I have suffered from reoccurring BV and Yeast infection not sure if that is relevant. I was also tested for STD's and they were all negative. My school paid for the 1st ER visit, but I will be billed for 2nd. My mom put me on her insurance, but the card isn't here yet! Exams are in 3 wks! I can't wait!!
Answer:
I really hate pain on my right side. seems like every organ is there...

I've dealt with kidney infections if that's what's wrong. a kidney infection is felt usually through you lower back and you might feel pain a little bit under your lower ribs. It's usually a dull pain.

I think for me Yeast triggers my bladder/kidney infections. is your urine cloudy at all? any strange sting when you pee?

an ovarian cyst type problem would bore likely be felt in you lower right abdomine. It can last a few weeks and can hurt so bad that you can vomite. They just go away on ther own. and doctors usually just give you pain killers and send you home.

the third pain would be a large intestinal inflammation as with crohn's disease or appendicitis. That is felt in between you belly button and you hip bone. Sometimes it can be a focal pain like you can feel pain when you put pressure on it, especially if it's appendicitis. But if it was appendicitis I'm sure it would have burst by now sending you to the hospital.
It's burst anywere from 3-5 days after you feel the pain. also you may see mucus in your stool.

now the cure.

Kidneys: Raw Apple Cider viengar 3TB 3 x a day for a few days clears any kidney problems with me. It kills bacteria along and dissolves most kidney stones. Also refraining from sugar/processed/yeasty foods helps me. Drinking Paud-D Arco and or Uva Ursi tea also can help. If it's yeast related then going on a candida diet for a period of time and taking a yeast cleanse helps ALOT. My favorite is actually "paragone" from renew life. It's anitbacterial, antifungal, and anit parasitic.

Ovarian cysts: Just goes away after a few weeks.

Intestine inflammation. eating alot of fiber and easy to digest foos like fruits and veggies for a period of time. fasting and enemas is very benifical and is pretty much the only cure for it.
did they happen to check your white blood count to see if you were having appendix attacks?? They feel like your ovaries are acting up...but it is really your appendix. I would check into that and also don't lift anything heavy, as it will only make it hurt more. Blood in your urine could be a bladder infection.or possibly a kidney stone.does your back hurt?? The only other thing I can suggest is to tell them you have insurance but you haven't recd. your card as of yet. Good luck and hope you find out what's wrong.
try taking advil for the pain
just to hold u until u get examined
just guessing : poss. ovarian cyst ? planned parenthood has sliding scale ,confidential full range services...wish you well !
you can also just get the card info from the ins. co. and give that to care providers ..[all the info !]
I have terrible pain when I had a cyst in my ovary. It tended to get worst by the time I was ovulating. And from the blood in your urine I might think it burst or was a folicular cyst.
But if you had a CT, it should have appear.Maybe they should try a ultrasound!
Sometiemes when you have problems with your colon, the pain can be severe. Watch your diet, try to stay away from things like coffee, cokes, fatty meals which can make it worst. Good Luck...

Birthcontrol without period?

Is it okay to take birthcontrol for 3 weeks and instead of going on your period break can i just start with the next package
so i dont have to have my period?
Answer:
You need to talk with your doctor about this. She could give you an answer based on your personal health history.

However, I know that Seasonale (birth control pill product), reduces the number of periods you have to just a few per year, using that same principle. Ask your doctor if this might be right for you. But don't just do it on your own. There may be some health issues you need to address first or side effects you may need to know about before you %26 your doctor make that decision.
No i don't think you can. But there is this birth control that causes you to have your period for only 3 days .
It's perfectly fine. When I was on birth control I discussed it with my doctor and she said it was fine to skip my period and just start a new pack after the 3rd week instead of taking the "dud pills." I did it often when I wanted to skip my period.
NO!! that is not ok, you will end up with something that you won't want to deal with.. Most women who have done this have developed breast cancer..
Talk to your doctor to see if you can eliminate a few periods..
Yes, you can!

Doctors speak of "multi-cycling" your pill, because you take more than one "cycle" (i.e. month pack). Many women use this method to either postpone their menses because they head up to a trip abroad, an important exam, their honeymoon etc.; other women use this method to get rid of their menses and only choose to bleed three times a year, or twice a year - it is up to you.

If you have more questions just ask your gynae about it.

Birthcontrol Shot (depo)?

Do you think it really makes you gain weight?
Answer:
A majority of women gain weight on the shot so I would say YES it does. There are also other negative side affects to the shot, I'm surprised they still have it on the market.

http://www.rateitall.com/t-330-birth-con...
The depo shot doesn't make you gain weight.

It can cause cravings for carbohydrates and increase your appetite.

If you eat the same as you are eating now and maintain the same level of activity, you will not gain weight.
the depo shot does make you gain weight...also for the frst month of getting the shot you might bleed for at least a month or two..i didnt go on it because i didnt want to gain weight but my friend is on it and she has gain at least 20 pounds on it... but you shold consult with your doctor if you have any other questions.
Yes!

I had personal experience of over 40 lbs. I did not change my eating habits or exercise habits. 70% of women using Depo Provera gain weight. Almost half of the women using Depo Provera gain more than 5 pounds after one year of use. Many women gain more than 10 pounds. I was miserable the whole time. I constantly felt like I was PMS-ing... tender breasts, bad skin, headaches, and moodiness.

There are other, more serious side effects, too. Studies released in 2004 show that Depo Provera is associated with a loss of bone density resulting in an increased risk of osteoporosis. The bone loss appears not to be reversed when the woman goes off Depo Provera. Depo is not recommended for long term use and especially not recommended when the young woman is still growing her bones.
no it might retain some fluids in you re body or give you some craving as long as you don't pig out on junk you,ll be fine
yes, I took the shot several years ago and the side effects were terrible. Please do alot of research before you make that choice. Weight gain was the least of the side effects.
Depo..My fiance took the shot. It did bad things to her. My advise is don't. Just use the birth control you use already.

She gained weight, increased mentual periods and bled heavier, got blood clots in her leg, and caused a lot of problems.

Read all of the warnings before you take it. A lot of other women had the same problem. She talks to others that had the shot, and they all developed similar and bad side effects.
I am a guy and not sure you want my opinion, but my answer is yes, I think some more then others. I know three people on the depo shot. My g%26#92;f, my cousin, and my g%26#92;fs best friend. My g%26#92;f has put on about 5lbs and she has been on the shot for only 6mo, so it may have nothing to do with it or it may just be starting. My cousin who has been on it for over a year used to be well figured and about 120lbs, weighs about 150lbs now and is just kinda flat, all the thin spots filled out. I saved the best for last... My g%26#92;fs best friend has also been on the depo shot for over a year and weighed the same as my g%26#92;f about 98lbs. She now tips the scales at about 180lbs! I feel terrible for her, (and her b%26#92;f). From a size "0" to like a "16". Something to think about. I say if you notice a big diff after the first to shots stop. 5lbs doesn't really matter if my g%26#92;f ever worked out it wouldn't have ever happened. On the other hand 80lbs is a lot just not to have to open a condom
I was on Depo for 4 years and never gained a pound - but with other birth controls (ie ones with estrogen) I bloated up right away..
Just remember to get enough calcium - it's a great method of birth control but it leaches calcium from your bones.
I have been on Depo for about 4 years on and off. The first time I gained about 25 lbs over the course of 2 years. But keep in mind prior to getting the shot I ate, well, junk and continued to do so while I was on it. The second time (I am still on it) I have lost close to 40 lbs because I eat right and exercise. If you eat right and take care of your self you should be fine. Your gonna gain weight if you eat junk, regardless of the shot! As for cramping and bleeding, you can expect to have some random spotting for the first 2 shots or so and then your periods should go away altogether. I experience some tenderness at the injection site for a few days since it goes into the muscle but I love it other than that. As with any new birth control, the side effects are usually most noticable the first few months but your body adjusts after that.
I would not recommend depo to anyone. I took 1 shot the day after I gave birth to my son, and I haven't been the same since. Not only did I gain weight, but I didn't have a period for more than 6 months after that 1 shot. I still don't have a regular period, and my Dr. thinks that I still do not ovulate. They don't tell you when you get it that you experience some of the same symptoms as menopausal women. And some women are never able to conceive after taking the drug. I didn't for 12 years after 1 shot.

Birthcontrol Help?

I have been wanting to get on the Nuva-Ring birthcontrol and i have been doing alot of research on it. Peoples opions that are on hate it and the side effects are scary to me, and alot of people have gain a crap load of weight on it to from what i have read! I was wondering if any of you are on Yasimin i have been kind of considering that one now! I like the part that it is like a water weight pill and keeps a person from gaining weight! If any of you are on that or know anyone that is and likes it please tell me, and what is the weight gain assue with it? If you are not on the nuva-ring or yasimin please share what you are on and tell me if you like it or hate whatever you are taking, and have you gained weight or lost, just stayed the same weight as before! Thanks for you feed back i really need opions!
Answer:
I was on ortho tri-cyclen and absolutely loved but, but decided to switch to Seasonal. I havent gained weight on either, and both have just about eliminated my cramps and made periods shorter and lighter.
Good Luck! And don't be scared by horror stories people tell you.
i have an IUD and love it, there are two different kinds, no weight gain for me, look into it
I'm on
Ortho Tri Cyclen
Love it.
There real small too:)
Ok, I am on the birth control pill. Fair warning, if you are going to take any birth control, Antibiotics make the pill useless. So, double up on protection. Now, on to an answer.

I have been on birth control for 5 years. they started me on the normal mg's. Those made me soooo sick. The headaches, etc. They switched me to a lower mg of it, it is called LEVLEN. It works wonders. I did not gain any weight on it. I still havent. In the beginning, while my body was adjusting to it, (Which is what yours needs to do) I was breakthrough bleeding for a couple months, and it was only spotting a bit. Other than that, after my body adjusted to it, I was fine. I always know when I am going to get it, how long it is going to last, etc. This is how well it works for me. Here is my cycle. 3 weeks active pills, take them every day, never miss one. Wednesday I start. Light, just a panty liner. Thursday and friday, Heavy, thick pads needed. Saturday morning, thick pad needed, Saturday afternoon, panty liner, Sunday morning, its gone. that is exactly what happens every month. Hope this helps you!
I was on yasmin and I got migranes. I now have an IUD and I LOVE it. No weight gain, no periods, no PMS. But you can only get them if you have already had a child.

Birthcontrol for a married woman in her 30's?

Any suggestions? And yes, I've heard 'abstinence' before. Like that really is an option for a married person! If you're gonna say that, then don't bother answering.

My problem is that my husband won't use a condom. His 'method' is not having an orgasm inside of me. He waits for me first. Yes, I know there is still a possibility of pregnancy.

I've heard that taking the pill is more of an option for teens and people in their 20's. I need good suggestions. Thank you.
Answer:
You can try the Nuva Ring. I've been using it now for about 2 years and I love it. No daily reminder of taking the pill and its so easy you insert it and dont have to worry for 3 weeks. And it has the lowest estrogen. My family there is a history of cancer so I try to stick with the birthcontrol that has the lowest estrogen just in case. Good luck...hope this helps =)
and the pill is fine for women in their 30's too - as long as you don't smoke and have high blood pressure.
Birth control is for anyone without any serious health problems that is.

However, if you don't intend to become pregnant for a few more years, or ever, then I would say something like an IUD. Once they're inside, you don't have to worry about it anymore. It is also a form of birth control, but you don't have to worry about taking a pill, inserting anything, etc.

I'll provide the link, best of luck!
Why dont you use a condom?
2 years with the Mirena IUD and I love it. I don't need to think about birth control for another 8 years. There is a 15 year IUD I don't recall the name but it is made of copper so if you have a metal allergy like me don't use it.
Probably you were talking about withdrawal method? That was our method too but still my wife got pregnant. Congratulations to me because i will be a father of two 5 months from now.

The best option i can suggest is IUD other than pills.
Here is a link that might help you and your husband. Good luck to the
both of you. http://priestsforlife.org/contraception/...
Use the one-month injection. you can ask your doctor about it.
I am 42 and had an IUD inserted. It didn't hurt and can stay in for 10 to 12 years.Once it's there you don't even know it and you don't have to remember the pill everyday. All though you can still take the pill, even in your 30's,but you can't be a smoker if on the pill.I took the pill until I was 36,they made me stop because I'm a smoker.

Birth Controll Question...?

I started the ring 2 weeks ago and I want to when I take it out. I started on a tuesday, do I take it out next tuesday and then put another in the tuesday after or the wednsday after? Im really confused. I started the ring after one year on the depo shot and I dont know if im going to have a period at all. So if I dont, do I still take it out for a week?
Answer:
I'm making assumptions based on what you said. It might be best to mark things on your calendar so you can keep track of things. Mark your first Tuesday as 1, second Tuesday 2, third Tuesday 3, then the removal week as 4, then start over with 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

If you put your 1st ring in on April 10, you will take it out on May 1. This will be THREE WEEKS.

You will insert a new ring on May 8.

If you are EVER in doubt, call your pharmacist or your doctor. They can explain things to you as well.
When you are on the ring, you leave it in for 3 weeks and remove it on the 4th week. During the 4th week, you should start your period. Even if you are still on when it's time to insert a new one, do it! Just be careful while on the ring. Pay close attention to your body. Good luck.

Birth Control?

the other day i went to my obgyn and he was in such a rush I not sure I understood how to take my Birth contol does anyone know how to take YAZ (the birth control pill)
Answer:
Well sweetie, there is a packet insert that takes the place of the doctors teeeny brain. You take it every day at the same time for 28 days and start over when youre done. Its the same as all oral BCP. Set an alarm. Dont forget. If it is low dose, missing the pill within just a few hours too late can cause you to ovulate which means possibility of little you running around. not good.
With a name like MILF, ya may just want to get fixed LOL
My doctor told me to start it on sunday. Which im starting it tomorrow. And you have to take it at the same time of the day everyday. good luck!
You are supposed to take it the first Sunday AFTER your menstrual (sp?) cycle. So if you are on your period on say this Sunday, then you will start your pill NEXT Sunday. The reason for this: to regulate your cycles with the hormones.(pills).Hope this helps!
You have the option of either starting the pills the day you get your period, or the Sunday immediately after you start your period. If you period starts on a Sunday, you start the pills that same day. Read the insert that came with the pills, it should explain all of this to you.

Birth Control?

I'm so angry. I was on the shot for 3 years and loved it, never had any problems. But I figured I'd take a break from it becuase of the bone loss issues with extended use. Since then I tried the pill and it made me sick and bitchy. Now I'm trying the ring and everything was going great and but now I think it gave me an infection, not to mention bad acne. Grrr!! I don't know what else to try. I can't have an IUD because I've never had a kid. I miss the shot :( Any suggestions
Answer:
Sounds like you answered your own question. Go back on the shot, take calcium supplements, and perform weight-bearing exercises to prevent bone loss.

Birth Control?

Okay, so I am going on vacation Saturday. I plan on skipping over my dummy/sugar pills while on vacation because it should be that time of the month. I have never done it before. Do I just throw the dummy pills away or do I take them after my first week on the new pack is done? And if you have done this before does it work well??
Answer:
It still won't guarantee that you will skip your period that week. You could also get breakthrough bleeding and it will take some time for your body to get back on track after skipping the fourth weeks pills.

I did that one time for a cruise, and it took MONTHS for my cycle to get back on schedule. I would never do it again.
No jus throw the dummy pills away. It works fine and is basically how the birth control seasonale works. You just take your active pills continuously and don't get a period.
Punch out each pill and toss it. This will keep you on track seeing you will be on vacation it is easy to forget. You don't have to take the pills at all really. To not have a period is not a bad thing. And yes it works.
If you start your next pack right away, then Aunt Flo will not ruin your vacation. If you're just going to skip the seven dummy pills, then start your new pack seven days after you finish your old pack (like you had taken the dummy pills). If you take them at the wrong time (week 2 of new pack) then you will very likely cancel the birth control effects. The pills are specially timed to your monthly cycle, so if you take week one, then the dummies, you could very easily get pregnant.

In a nutshell, you have two options: Start the new pack as scheduled, but throw away the dummy pills that you don't take.

2. Start the new pack the first day you should start the dummy pills and throw away the dummy pills. This should stop or lighten your period ~ but it's unhealthy to do this every month. For a vacation or something special, it's ok once in a while.

Birth Control?

What would be the best type?...pills, patch, shots?... What are soem experiences that some of you have? And how long does it take for the "birth control" to take place?
Answer:
I've only ever been on the pill so I can't speak personally to the patch or shots, but all my friens with patch or shots were happy with their choice. With the pill you're supposed to take it for a month before it's "working". Also, not every pill is for every girl; don't be afraid to ask your doc tons of questions and to ask to switch pills if you're feeling "off" after a few months on a new pill. Could mean the formula's not for you.
Depends all on you. I personally got a rash from the patch, gained 20 pounds from the shot, and certain varieties of the pill made me a complete biatch or gave me three week periods. It is all about your preference. If you are bad at remembering to take pills, go with the patch or shot. If you have sensitive skin, go with pills. Remember that with the pill though you have to take it around the same time every day for it to work at its best.
It depends on your needs and what side effects you're willing to tolerate. I was on the pill and then the ring for 3 years before deciding I no longer wanted to use hormones. There are too many side effects. However, I found the ring easy to use and very reliable.
With my experience, (i have never had the patch, but i know people who have used it and it was really hard to stay in place--and you can't re-stick it, so it is a waste)...i have used the pill and have had the shot...and i think that pilles are the way to go. what the dr's office doesn't tell you is that if you do decide to get the shot, it basically puts your body though menopause and can stop the production of you eggs and make it almost impossible or very hard to have children when you are ready...plus it messes your period up in ways you wouldn't believe! PILL!!
i use the ring and it takes affect the day after . it is the best cause i have tried it all and this is the easiest by far. you put it in and forget about it for 3 weeks take it out for a week and start all over. no pill to remember daily . its great especially if you are forgetful when it comes to pills i am. and the patch was stupid to change every week and sometime it would leave a rash.
I was on Depo Provera (the shots) for a while. I am one of the few women who still have periods while on it. Not only did I still have a period, but it was very light and would last for 3 weeks. Not very fun at all. A good friend of mine is on Depo Provera (she has been for a number of years) and never has any problems and very rarely has a period.

I do cycles of birth control and Lupron Depo for endometriosis treatment. I just finished up the Lupron Depo (puts you into fake menopause which is also not fun) so I am waiting to have a period to start the pills. I am a little anxious about remembering to take a pill every day, but I would much rather have a regular period than a 3 wk one.

I don't know anything about the patch.

Birth Control?

Has anybody who has depression and was put onto birth control and helped? by the way. I am 15.
Answer:
If the doctor think it is related to hormonal imbalances, then yes, BC will work because BC balances out your hormones by giving you a consistent dosage of hormones. If the depression is not a result of hormonal imbalance, then you will need to try meds like prozac, zoloft, etc to see if they will help you, because they balance out neurotransmitter imbalances, which also cause depression.
No.

Going on the pill when you have depression can make it worse.
My best friend in school had hormones all over the place and some times of the month she'd get really depressed and low, she was put on BC for two years when she was 14 to 16 and by the time she came off the BC her hormones and cycle had evened out and she was fine again.

Ask your doctor and they might be able to answer any questions. BC will help, but only if it's hormone related depression.
no.. it makes it worse. one of the side effects of birth control is mood swings and depression. if you already have this then i would not recommend going on them. IF you do choose to then you need to pick one that has a steady constant flow of hormones ie the ring or the patch and not the pill.
also how about trying an antidepressant??

Birth Control?

I messed up my birth control i forgot to take it but it was just inactive pillls. I still took them and then and now starting a new pack.should i take sundays and still or start on monday?
Answer:
I always take mine on the sunday after I start my period because I always know it will land on thursday. It has always landed on thursday without fail. So I know there will bo no surprises on wednesday. But it really is all preference if you want to start right after you have your period there is less chance you will become pregnant since the hormones are getting inside your system faster.
start it all over like nothing happened. if you ever miss a day take that and the next day, never take more than two in the same day. if you miss more than 2 then you should just stop taking it for the rest of the month and start all over on that sunday.
Honestly, I don't even take my inactive pills. I take a week off, and start back on active pills the next sunday. Since that's what you tripped up on, start on sunday, and it'll be like nothing happened.

Birth Control?

i am looking for a birth control that can help acne but doesn't make you gain weight, infact, i am looking for one that helps you lose weight. does this pill exist??
Answer:
Umm well I take Desogen and it has helped my acne a whole lot! I used to have horrible skin because of hormones..but now i rarely breakout. And i didn't gain any weight from it. Actually I didn't have any side effects. maybe i was just lucky though
You will have much better luck if you talk to your gynecologist !
i take zovia, which helps with the breakouts. it doesn't help you lose weight, but it doesn't make you gain any either.

Birth Control?

I'm on Yasmin 28's. For some reason I was thinking that the week after your "blank" pills, your birth control is less effective. I have been on it for about 9 months now. Am I just making that up? Or is it just as effective the whole time?
Answer:
I take Yasmin. Don't skip any days and it will always be in your system. But birth control is 98% effective.
I have no real medical experience nor do I know for certain, but that makes sense to me. Because your body is devoid of the hormones for a week, whereas when you are in your third week, you have three weeks of hormones building up in your system, giving you more protection.

Birth Control?

I was wondering is it true that when you have diarrhea and you are on the pill is it less effective?
Answer:
If you just took your pill and it hasn't been absorbed into your system yet and then you vomit or have serious diarrhea, you might not get the dose you were supposed to get. If you took the pill in the morning and got diarrhea in the afternoon, you are probably fine.
no that is not true dear
dont believe so, it would be if u were throwin up, coz u could throw up the pill
No, but what you might be reffering to is something different. If you take your pill, and then get very ill (i.e. puking, diarhea) and everything inside you comes right back out immediately after you've taken the pill (i mean everything) then it's possible that the pill didn't get absorbed and came right back up too. It's not likely, but it is possible.

Birth control?

Heres my situration
I ma on the pill i have been on it for 4 months
and after my last pack which ended on monday the 7th, i was supposed to take my last white pill that day but my daughter opened my pack and lost it, luckylily i went to the doctor that same day and they told me to take yesterdays again and mondays, i did that and then i think i made the mistake of starting the pack again, cause ikept taking them this whole week, then today my daughter got into my pack again and lost two this time, i don't know what to do i tried calling my doctor but he is closed. tommorw is saturday and i don't know what to do... can someone help me?
Answer:
Keep you daughter away from your pills!
All medications should be hidden and out of reach of children.

Use condoms until you reach your doctor. There's nothing you can do unless you have a spare pill pack.

Birth control?

so... i randomly had a 2nd period this month due to weird side effects of the morning after pill. so my cousin has 3 extra birth control pills and i dont want to be on m period while camping this weekend.. today is thurs.. so if i start takin the pills will they end my period quicker?
Answer:
NO. The extra hormoes could actually make it even more screwy. Just leave it alone!
hell no thats going to miss ur body up why r u taking other people pills stop living the fast life before u end up with a baby wear condoms or get on the shot
they wont do anything in 3 dasy of the pills so dont take them and just wait for your period to be over
I'm sorry to say but birth control pills doesn't end your period quicker when your first starting... When I took birth control pills the first month, I was on a light period for the entire month... Sometimes this is a side effect of beginning birth control pills... But then again it all depends on how your body reacts to it.
No. If you already started your period, then it will go until all the tissue/blood is flushed out.
No definately not. The extra hormones will simply mess up your body and it is too late to stop your period, the pill only makes periods shorter/lighter/more regular if taken for the whole of your cycle. You could possibly get something from to dr's that will make it lighter and easier to deal with. Apart from that take plenty of tampons/towels and have a good weekend!! x
HOLY MOLY... don't do that!

it is NOT your birth control pills!

by the way how does she have "extra"?? she should be taking one a day every day at the same time each day!

talk to a doctor.

Birth control?

During the summer I have to get oral surgery resulting in my mouth being wired shut for atleast a month which also means I can't eat normal food and I am on a strictly liquid diet for that time. Does anyone know if birth control is still effective if I grind it up and say put it in some water or something so I can still take it?
Answer:
That's tricky, I would ask your doctor. Although, if you are going to rest for several days following the surgery you are supposed to discontinue use of the birth control anyway(read it in the pamphlet that comes with your pill), in order to prevent blood clot formation. I was in the hospital for a few days with a kidney infection/stones and had a blood clot form in my bladder because I was on birth control. I was lucky that it didn't enter the bloodstream because it could have been deadly, caused a stroke or gotten to my lungs. It did block my bladder off for 3 days before they figured out what it was which caused plenty of problems itself. So from experience, I would maybe advise you to just to take a month or two off.
you would have to ask a doctor...you could also look into the patch pr the ring or the shot for the time you are wired shut
you might ask about a shot. if you're worrying about your mouth and all you might not remember the pills anyway. you don't have to worry about forgeting the shot.
talk to your doctor. I'm not sure if it is effective that way.

I would not recommend the shot for you during this time, too many horrible side affects.

You could just do without birth control and use a condom at that time.

consult with your doctor though. they are the best source of information for you.
you should talk to your doctor about this new birth control pill called " Femcon Fe" also known as the chewable pill. You can chew this pill or swallow it, either one will have the same effect.

Birth control?

What's the average percentage of how effective birth control is against pregnency?
Answer:
depends on which form of birth control. For example the rhythm method is at 70%, condoms 97%, and oral contraceptives at 99% if taken correctly.
It can range from 97%-99.9% effective... that's WITH correct use, meaning you use it exactly as directed.
99% effective if used correctly.
I assume you mean the birth control pill.

It is 99% effective. Honestly, I think that the only reason they don't say 100% is that it's technically impossible to prove anything completely. The birth control pill prevents ovulation. With no egg, fertilization and pregnancy cannot occur.

The only case in which it would not be effective is if the woman has forgotten to take her pills for a while, allowing ovulation to occur.

I hope I helped!
it depends on which one you take. i'm on ortho tricyclen lo and the info pamphlet inside says 95% but condoms are always good because they're cheap and you don't need a perscription.

Birth control?

i start take birth control 2 months before and i see in my legs same very very smoll spiders is posible birth control effect spiders?
Answer:
Answer:
Probably the pill, it increases these type of markings in about 10-20% of women. They may not may not vanish;but, you might do better with a lower estrogen formatted pill.

Spider Veins on the legs are a very common
problem that affects over half the population. Certain factors, such as heredity, seem to play a decisive role.

When the valves in a vein become damaged, they
are unable to function properly and reflux can
occur causing varicose and spider veins.

The condition can be aggravated by pregnancy, menopause, obesity, aging of body tissue, and the use of birth control pills and other hormone therapy.
At one time, there was no alternative to surgery in the treatment of varicose and spider veins.
However, since the 1920's, a non-surgical procedure called sclerotherapy
has been in used in Europe.
Go to doctor immediately and don't wait last minute.

Birth control?

Over the past couple of days I've noticed myself just being extremely emotional, can't stop crying and then I find myself getting mad over things that don't usually bother me. I was a little bit sick to my stomach today, and I feel like I have my hormones a little more under control. I stopped taking my birth control a little over 3 weeks ago as my husband and I are hoping to conceive within the next while. Anyway, am I experiencing bad mood swings and the "not well" feelings as a result of the hormone change? Any input would be great. Thanks.
Answer:
Yes, it's possible, but it's possible that there is something else that is causing this problem. It could be directly related to the stresses in your life. You mentioned that you and your husband are wanting to concieve, perhaps you are anxious about this or something else. Obviously, I don't know you.

If this keeps up, I suggest you see a doctor and/or a psychologist.
It is very possible. And hormonal fluctuation cause cause mood disturbances. And since birth control pills regulare these hormones, your body is probably confused because it isn't being regulated by chemicals anymore. If it persists, I'd see an MD and talk to him about what has happened and the possibility of antidepressants.

Birth control?

started ortho tricyclen about a month ago.

Went good for 1st week, spotted, bleed and had bad cramps for the next 2 weeks on the pill, could not take it anymore stopped taking the pill and have been spotting, bleeding and still cramping for the last week.
I made a dr appointment, because I am freaking out!
Boyfriend is about to go crazy because I have been like don't touch me for the last 3 weeks!!
Anything like this happened to anyone else?
I know I probably should have stayed on it longer, but the cramps where horrible (I usually have only minor cramping on the 1st day).
Answer:
This is completely normal. Trying to find the right birth control is like trying to find the perfect hair style. It's trial and error. Just make an appointment and get something different. This is completely common and your gyno will just reccomend something different.
hmmm thats weird because i use that same birth control and never got any of those things. BUT i dont go according to the guidelines i take it and then there are times i forget to take it, and then i stoped taking it like 4 days ago and ofcourse i got my period and i am in soo much pain which is a FIRST! but try and get a low dosage of birth control... the one thing i got a lot with ortho tricyclen was bad headaches:(
Its normal. Now your cycle is messed up because you did not take the whole month of pills. Be very careful because you can get preg. at this stage. Go to the doctor and try other pills or try the patches. You can even try the implants. You have a lot of options so just talk to your doctor. Good Luck.
they're right, some cramping is normal side effect when starting pills, so is spotting (it's called break-thru bleeding) i take yasmin %26 haven't had any side effects so that might be an option for u- when u go to the doctor they'll see if you need a different dose and tell u it takes time for the body to get used to the hormone changes and side effects shouldnt last longer than that, %26 if u take the pills on schedule things should get back to normal

Birth control?

would birth control make your boobs grow or is that just a myth?
Answer:
It depends on the person and how they react. One kind of birth control may make you gain weight, while I would loose weight. Maybe one would give me acne, and clear your skin right up. If you notice the side effects are always written as you may experience...it's because everyone reacts differently. The patch really didn't give me any side effects, where the shot made me gain weight, hence bigger boobs. If you want bigger boobs, do some push-ups, it will make those muscles more solid and look bigger. Also, try my favorite make up trick, a bit of powder bronzer in your cleavage, and shimmery powder on the top of your boobs to make them look bigger. Pair that up with a push-up bra, and you are money!
MYTH. Lets face it if it really worked wouldn't everyone be using it whether they needed it or not and woudn't there be no small breasted women?
The hormones in the pill can increase the size of your breasts but it can also make them tender and sore. Just like pregnancy.
it is not a myth.birth control pills do make them grow a little on some women ,but its not like its a major difference. i take birth control pills and mine grew from a b to a small c.
It's a myth. You have to eat a healthy low fat diet when you are on birth control. Otherwise you'll retain water.

Birth Control: What do you reccomend?

Currently I am taking ESTROSTEP Fe...I have been since my 5month old daughter was born, but am still experiencing the "bleeding" side effects...

I've thought about trying the Mirena IUD because we're not planning on baby #2 anytime in the near future...
(of course, after reading the "side effects" its a little scarry..but arent they all..)

I've also thought maybe I should try another sort of pill.

any recommendations?? please help...THANKS! :)
Answer:
I have Mirena and love it. I was really scared when I read the side effects also. The worst part about the IUD is the spotting for the first 6 months. After it settles in it is great. I have very light periods now..which are great!
My wife takes the shot. It is an injection every 12 weeks or so.
Simple, just go "lesbo".
I would recommend asking your dr what they think about trying another brand of birth control pill to see if that helps take care of the bleeding side effect. It sounds like this Estrostep Fe might be too low in the amount of estrogen for you. When there is not enough estrogen in a birth control pill to cover preventing pregnancy or take care of a medical problem (the reason I'm on the pill) breakthrough bleeding can occur and stay for months on end.
Discuss it with your Gyn. Only your doctor and you know what your body can tolerate.
I take Levlen. Been on it for over 4 years. I get it in the mail 3 months worth at a time for $39, $13 a month. Check out www.smartwomanrx.com.
I am currently on Loestrin 24 Fe, but have been expereincing breakthough bleeding since I began it 9 months ago. I'm stiching to ortho tri cyclen lo...hope it does the trick.
But every woman is different, do consult your physician though.

Birth control: Break through bleeding = still protected?

If I have break through bleeding while on hormonal birth control, does that mean that the dosage is too low? Am I still protected?
Answer:
Breakthrough bleeding does not mean that you are not protected.
(Exception -- if you are bleeding because you missed pills, then that is different.)

At least 30% of women have breakthrough bleeding in their first pack of pills.
The progesterone component causes a thinning of the uterine lining. Ultimately, you will have lighter and shorter periods because of this, but in the first few months bleeding may be irregular.

A higher dose pill will usually fix this problem, but could also cause you OTHER side effects. So if you are doing OK otherwise, you may want to try to stick it out.

Since breakthrough bleeding is harmless and resolves by the end of the third month in most women, most health care providers won't change pills until then unless it is really bothering you.

However, it can be extremely annoying to some women, so if it's that bad, talk to your doctor or midwife.
i was haveing alot of break thru bleeding on my pill depending on how long you have been on it if you have been on the same pill for more than 5yrs your chance of getting preg increases if you just started you should give it 3 mo if still bleeding talk to your doctor about changeing pills you are still protected as long as your alway takeing it every day
Breakthrough bleeding is common on the first three months of Birth Control so not to worry there.

You are still protected even if you have some break through bleeding, as long as you have not had significant amounts of diarrhea or have vomited.

If you are starting a new birth control or even for your first time, it usually takes one week up to one full pill cycle to become fully protected against pregnancy if taken correctly at the same time every day. As long as you have been doing this you will be fine.

Birth Control...?

I just started Birth Control a little over a month ago. And everyone's told me they gained weight...and I know people are different.
Well I gained like 5 pounds but my stomach is soooo hard... is that normal?
Answer:
If you're taking the shot then you'll defidently be gaining weight that's impossible to get rid of because it's water weight. If you take the shot then you gain weight but you are able to burn it off but only if you exercise daily. I've been taking the shot for the past 2 years and I exercise every day for an hour but the weight won't come off so I'm switching to the pill as soon as my shot expires.

Birth Control.... vomiting?

Does anyone know the side affects after getting off the shot? Because many ppl tell me, oh after they got off the shot, their hair stared falling out and the gained lots of weight and were vomiting.
Answer:
Sometimes it takes about a year to be able to get pregnant after stopping, I assume you mean Depro-Provera shot? Also, irregular periods. I never heard of anyones hair falling out from stopping it, but when they first came out with the pill that happened...
i am one of those girls that lost a ton of hair and gained weight like crazy, i think depo has a ridiculous amount of hormones in it and is very bad for you, i would not recommend it to anyone, i have tried many different BCs and the best by far is ortho tri cyclen lo, it doenst cause mood swings for me, but ofcourse everyone is different. Depo however, has a bad side effect of causing osteoporosis and blood clots, the chances are a lot higher with depo than with other BCs. good luck
I've heard people saying the one side effect they had was gaining weight, I've read online of the hair falling out but I haven't heard of the vomitting.

Birth control. is this bad?

so im on birth control and have been since i was 11 for irregular periods.. throughout the years i have messed up sometimes on them by forgetting to take them... and then i'll just skip that month.. and then start up again on them the next month.. is this bad?. and have you heard of this leading to problems down the road?... and as far as taking them for a long period of time [ever since i basically got my period] could this lead to any problems.. ive asked my doctor by she just kind of dances around the subject..

.. any info would help. thanks :]
Answer:
Skipping a month can mess up your periods as can missing pills for days at a time by causing withdrawal bleeding because of not having the medicine go in to the body.

As for your dr not wanting to discuss this issue with you might want to consider getting another opinion (or even finding another dr) but preferably from someone that does not share the same office as the dr that you currently see.

I'm sorry that your dr did not feel comfortable with answering this question for you.
Stopping the control for a month then going back on, as far as I know, is not harmful.

I dont have much more for you but if your Doc isn't helping ask your mum/ friends another Doc or force your Doc to tell you what you need to know. They should. It's their responsibility.

Hope this helps!
First off, you should always ask your doctor about any questions that you have; that is what she is there for. Second, as far as long term problems for taking birth control pills over an extended period of time, I have not yet seen any research about that. But if you are concerned, this is something that you need to bring up with your doctor. As far as the inconsistency in taking your birth control pills, you should always take any prescribed medications as indicated by your physician. Not taking your pills as your doctor recommends could lead to more irregular periods, which would defeat the purpose of you taking them in the first place. If taking the pills everyday at the same time is a problem of inconvenience for you, perhaps you can talk to your doctor about a prescription that will work better for you.

Birth control, period?

I am taking femcon. I missed two days of the second week of active pills. The next day I had menstrual like cramps and then started bleeding (like a period). What is this? Did my period come two weeks early because I didn't take those two pills. Is this normal?
Answer:
Yes, this is normal. The Birthcontrol pill is in a way prolonging your period. Since you missed two days of a series of active pills your cycle was thrown off and you got your period a little bit earlier. Don't worry, just be sure not to miss consecutive pills :)
most likely

Birth Control- Tri Sprintec?

I was wondering if anyone is on this type of birth control. Did you have any problems with it? If so what?
Answer:
I was on Tri Sprintec for over 2 years, I had to take myself off it because it made me really crabby, short tempered and bite peoples heads off.

Currently I am not on any birth control, but that's a liberty you get to have when you're married.

Birth Control Technique's?

When using the withdrawal method do you think it's ok to ejaculate on your partner?
Answer:
Withdrawal very often fails, especially when ejaculating on your partner. If any small amount even touches the vagina then you have a high chance of pregnancy. Go use condoms or OCP (the pill) if you want to not become a father yet.
We have a name for people that use the withdrawl method.

They're called PARENTS.

Use a condom.
when using birth control there is a chance that you can still get pregnant....even if you pull out because precum the dribble that comes out of a man can contain sperm
If see enjoys it . if not don't do it. Real pleasure comes if you discharge inside. that give her and you immense pleasure. try safe periods. It enlarges at the time of ejaculation and sprays fluid inside gives immense pleasure.
That is a question that you need to ask your partner. Some may like it others may not. It is a personal preference there is not a universal answer. By the way if you are thinking that the withdrawl method is an effective birth control technique you may want to reconsider. A men releases sperm even before he ejaculates (pre ***). There is a high rate of failure for the withdrawl method.
chances are slim.. im in the same situation you are in but a month later.. pregnancy symptoms.. BEWARE! =(

Birth Control stuff?

Okay i accidently took like 2 birth control pills and a week later i started getting some blood and stuff. and im scared because my period dont start till like near the end of the month. does anyone know anything??
Answer:
Don't freak out, it's okay!
Breakthrough bleeding commonly occurs with birth control, and when you have a higher dosage of those hormones (like when you took two pills), it's more likely for the breakthrough bleeding to happen.

If that doesn't make you feel better, consider this:
When women get the Depo shot, they're getting THREE MONTHS of this medicine in one sitting! It causes breakthrough spotting, bleeding, and irregular periods.

If you're still worried, call your doctor's office and explain the situation to a nurse. If she feels that in your particular situation (if you have a pre-existing condition), it is important for you to seek medical attention, she'll tell you. Otherwise she'll put your worries at ease, and you won't be stuck dishing out the co-pay for a doctor's visit!

:)
The pills u took might be reacting on you. If u got the prescription from a doctor or midwife, report this to them. They'll know how to help.
Pretty typical to have spotting or an early period if you take two pills on the same day. Things should straighten out on the next pack.
It's just the hormones. It's totally normal. You just gave your body a bit too much and that's how it reacted. Hormones are weird like that.

Birth Control Side effects?

Im about to switch to ortho-tri-cyclin-low?are side effects more rare when you use "low" any experiences?
Answer:
Hmm, I've heard several not-so-good things about the Ortho medication. I may be thinking about an entirely different birth control, but if Ortho is the one I'm remembering, that was the one that caused some major blood clots.

Try doing a Google search on the side effects of this medication. And if it turns out to be the faulty birth control, switch immediatley! Good luck!

Birth Control Question?

I am on Loestrin 24, the pill, and it is hard for me to remember taking it. Im just not a pill taker, never have been. Has Anyone been on the Shot before?? what are the positive and negatives about it, because my doctor told me i could have that as an option, give me your opinions please. Thanks in advance
Answer:
You're going to get a BUNCH of "don't do its" because it CAN cause food cravings, which in turn leads to weight gain. Just remember that all methods of birth control contain ZERO calories...its what you put in your mouth that makes you gain.

I personally had absolutely NO bad experiences with the shot. I never gained any weight, my periods stopped immediately and then I only had one every 15 months or so. I stopped with the mood swings, cramping, acne, headaches, AND my stomach (GERD) problems were less because the pill is a big contributor to acid reflux problems.

I stopped taking the shot when my insurance stopped covering it...and that's the only reason.

The way I remember to take the pill is I have them out in the open (who CARES if someone knows you're on birth control for heaven's sake!) so I see them and I take it every morning while brushing my teeth.
If you put your pills someplace you'll see them, and make a habit of taking them while doing something you do EVERY day, you'll rarely forget.
Shot sucks! Everyone I know, myself included, gained a lot of weight on the shot. And when it would start wearing off I was like a psycho-emo *****. I also spotted the entire time I was on it (9 months). I then went on the patch. I loved that; but missed one new one by a few days and got pregnant....
Now have a lovely 2 year old and my tubes tied!!
My suggestion is to set your cell phone alarm to a daily time, and keep your pills in your purse so no matter where you are, you can excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and take one when your alarm goes off. I make it in the evening well before I plan to go to bed, so that it's not a reminder for anything else--just the pill.

I've heard the patch is a good alternative to the shot. I have a family member who's an ob/gyn who said he recommended that as the best/most convenient birth control for 20 something women
I'm a nurse and worked in womens health care. We strongly advised women not to take the Depo Provera shot. It puts you into an early menopause. This is very bad for you. Makes your bones brittle among other things. If you have a hard time remembering you might consider the patch or the ring. Ask your doctor about them. The patch you change once a week and the ring once a month.
for me everything has been wonderful while on the depo shot
i have never felt sick or gained weight i sleep well and i have the security of knowing that i will never be pregnant while on this method. i started birth control will the pill but just like you i would forget so take my advice and try it

Birth Control Question?

I have been on the pill now for about a year but I am wanting to change the time I take it. I usually take it in the morning but now I am having to get up much earlier on week days for school and work. Is it ok to just change what time a day I take it. I know I need to take it at the same time everyday but if I change this month to taking it in the evening what effect will it have on it working correctly??
Answer:
I changed mine from the morning to the evening with no issues.

I would do what the first answerer said.

change the time after the next pack of pills.
Change your time after your next period. That way you are on a new dose and dosing schedule. It should not alter the effectiveness. But it's always recommended that when u change the time you take it that u use a condom for at least a week after.
